Kenworth Introduces New High-Efficiency T680 Heavy Duty Truck

Kenworth launched its heavy-duty truck, the T680 at 2012 Mid America Trucking Show in Louisville. With fuel prices surpassing $5 a gallon or approaching in some parts of the nation, trying to get as many miles as possible out of every gallon is on everyone’s minds, particularly truckers. So with new emphasis on efficiency in mind, the company launched the T680 heavy duty truck, which is offered in a day or sleeper cab.

The Kenworth T680 is one of the most aerodynamic trucks in the company’s history. Allowing its aerodynamics include optimized bumper and hood, a sculpted full-height roof, chassis fairing extenders, flush mounted lighting and full-height side extenders. Together, these improvements add up to 10% enhancement in aerodynamics. Also contributing to efficiency includes a three-piece hood and lightweight aluminum doors constructed from SMC (sheet molding compound), a durable lightweight composite, which provides you with a smooth surface facilitating high paint quality.

The Kenworth T680 comes equipped with optional HIDs and dual-lamp halogen headlights. All standard exterior lights are LEDs rated for 15 years of normal service or 20,000-hour life. The LED lighting is also used widely inside. The Driver Performance Center is a high-resolution full-color five-inch screen in the middle of gauge cluster, which integrates diagnostic data, pop-up alerts and current truck information. The DPC will show condition-specific recommendations to the driver. Also following general automotive models trends featuring available Kenworth NavPlus provide Bluetooth handsfree calling. It is offered for order now, and is developed and designed at Chillicothe, Ohio assembly facility of Kenworth.
