Introduction

When you have arrived, there is really only one choice to make; the 2012 Kenworth W900, a perfect combination of expert engineering, classic styling and cutting-edge technologies. It was originally introduced in the year 1976. The company’s job has been to continually and carefully refine the 2012 Kenworth W900 without changing what made it great. At present, few things in business exceed expectations quite like a Kenworth long nosed traditional. Fewer still continue for inspiring and exciting successive generations of drivers. For many, the W900 is an ultimate goal. In a world of knockoffs, unrelenting and copycats parity, this is an original, a rare piece of individuality you can call your own. Kenworth W900.

Comfort

Whether you choose a workhorse rugged, yet the custom look of a Diamond upholstery package or way above standard Splendor interior, the cabin inside 2012 Kenworth W900 has been designed and engineered to help those behind the wheel operate at their absolute best. Tour a Kenworth Studio Sleeper or one of the company’s AeroCab sleepers and check out the consummate balance between pleasure and business, the elegant and creative interior appointments and the convenient, productive and thoughtful layout, all handcrafted to the same exacting standard they use for building the rest of your Kenworth W900.

The 2012 Kenworth W900’s 86-inch Studio AeroCab symbolizes one of the most prestigious and voluptuous off-duty environments ever available as original equipment by the truck manufacturing company. With more than 7 feet of headroom, space conserving design features and flush walk-through sleeper sill, the Studio AeroCab efficiently doubles your living area unlike the traditional floorplan. Skylights, vented upper side windows and tinted picture windows further expand your sense of space as they bathe the interior in natural light.

The Kenworth AeroCab AERODYNE with a Diamond VIT cockpit is truly something special, providing abundance of space, light and headroom in a floorplan along with a myriad of additional comfort features such as full length door enclosed hanging closet, a deeply tufted Diamond interior, QuietCab package, cabinet with two shelves, over bunk side storage compartments, a 42-inch mattress and fold down desk. Optional features include rear and side picture windows, a fold out sofa bed, drawered cabinets, a TV mounting package, liftable lower bunk, a large capacity front loading freezer/refrigerator and underbunk drawers.

The standard Splendor interior of Kenworth has always been a cut above the Class 8 standard. However in AeroCab, it is even further ahead. Included in 72-inch model are storage shelves, a full length clothes closet, vented access doors, 42-inch mattress and insulated rubber floor mats. A wide variety of options are available, including under bunk drawers, a folding upper bunk, TV installation kit, QuietCab package, a liftable lower bunk with 42-inch mattress and nylon carpet.

Reliability

It is easy to be attracted by the pure pleasure of owning the best, most luxurious truck on the road; but there is even more beauty beneath the skin in a form of day out, day in dependability, longevity and mechanical integrity. Revolutionary for its toughness, the 2012 Kenworth W900 fuses fiberglass and aluminum in an assembly which is practically corrosion proof. Huckbolts hold all pieces together with a clamping force 6 times greater unlike rivets, so the cab is tight, more rattle free and strong. You will find all the little things you may not notice which help keep big things from going wrong. Plumbing and wiring combined together and mounted high in the frame, safe from road salts, washing acids or chafing. Threaded steel shackle pins and bushings for extending suspension life and enhancing steering, constant torque hose clamps, radiator tie rods mounted to frame for longer radiator life and much more.

A one piece fiberglass roof and coil coated aluminum panels, supported by an aircraft grade aluminum alloy frame, create a durable yet lightweight cab, which is virtually immune to corrosion. Thick bulkhead type doors hang on continuous stainless steel piano hinges not usual automotive hinges and fit snugly to become an integral part of the cab structure, another reason Kenworth trucks bring more at resale unlike just about any other make you can name.

Serviceability

The 2012 Kenworth W900’s powerplant sits high in the frame and totally ahead of the cab for full access. You can change oil, water and fuel filters and check fluid levels while standing on the ground not on a tire. The air conditioner/heater motor, windshield wiper motor, washer reservoir and electrical master connectors are all on the firewall for easier repair. On W900, it integrates straight sections of strengthened rubber hose, which are much less expensive for replacing and more readily available unlike preformed hoses, alongside steel elbows which are good for a lifetime of service. Even the electrical system, a maintenance headache for most operators has been designed for streamlined troubleshooting and durability. Multiplexed instrumentation greatly makes simpler cab wiring that’s further numbered and color coded for easy circuit tracing. Quick to fix engineering features like these can mean a lot shop time, money out of your pocket and less downtime.

The power distribution box of 2012 W900 puts all circuit protection elements, relays, breakers and fuses in one quick to reach location. The frame is a continuous straight rail made of heat treated steel, custom drilled to specification providing superior longevity and strength. Aluminum gussets and extruded aluminum crossmembers in standard designs for easy replacement add extra foundation without adding a lot of extra weight. All the components are free-fit fastened for extended life. Here is another reason Kenworth trucks are so dependable: 12V maintenance free batteries mounted on the left hand side and held firmly in place, close to the starter motor for minimum voltage drop.

Heavy Duty Support

The minute you take delivery of your 2012 Kenworth W900, you get 24/7 access to one of the most reliable and extensive service and parts organizations in the trucking industry. People who know your truck inside out and can show you how to maximize uptime, lower operating expenses, profit from your investment and optimize truck performance. Comprehensive preventive maintenance programs, complimentary roadside assistance, cost management service cards and expedited servicing are amongst the valuable programs offered through Kenworth PremierCare.

Introduction

Peterbilt showcased its new 579 long haul truck at Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville and comes with plenty of new technologies and innovations that make it more practical and efficient. Peterbilt claims that it is the best truck Peterbilt has ever designed. The 2012 Peterbilt 579 is offered with Sleeper and Single cabs. They began with a rich history of proven quality. Fusing durability, reliability and aerodynamics, it is a result of the company’s revolutionary innovation and craftsmanship. With the launch of 579, they illustrate their passion for unmatched performance.

Mr. Bill Kozek, PACCAR Vice President and Peterbilt General Manager stated that the 2012 Peterbilt 579 goes beyond meeting a market demand for an outstanding vehicle, which satisfies both the operator and bottom-line expectations. It incorporates Peterbilt revolutionary innovation and quality with a product platform which delivers in all aspects of vehicle productivity, safety and performance. From a redesigned electric system to driver amenities and from improved chassis design to optimized cab dimensions, every design element of 579 was engineered and analyzed for providing real-world business solutions and benefits, which exceed industry trends.

Design

The 2012 Peterbilt 579 gets an aerodynamic and modern style with plenty of unique lines usual for the design language of Peterbilt. There are a number of exterior elements engineered to enhanced the aerodynamic performances of the truck, amongst them are the sleeper extenders, rubber flares, under-cab closeouts, under-fairing skirts and variable length chassis fairings.

Its front bumper uses a 3-piece design so individual sections can be replaced if they are damaged, reducing costs of ownership and is designed and engineered for providing a low drag coefficient. Similar with the bumper, its aero hood is also constructed of 3 pieces. So as to be easier to maneuver, its hood gets the company’s tilt assist system, which reduces lift effort with up to 25 pounds.

The 2012 Peterbilt 579’s front is conquered by a huge chromed grille that gains 3 vertical stripes. The grille gels well with the rest of the design, whereas the dynamic headlamps are placed on oversized front wheel arches improving its purposeful look. With the 579, the fusion of powertrain optimization and aerodynamic innovation delivers efficiency and confidence for the most cost conscious firms. Designed and engineered for best aerodynamic performance, the company used Computational Fluid Dynamics to refine, validate and test. The company’s flexible Aero Packages offer the right fusion of skirts, closeouts and fairings for exceeding application specific aerodynamic requirements. Offered in a day cab or with detachable sleeper adds longevity and versatility of a second life for highest resale value.

Interior

Before Peterbilt designed the voluptuous cab for the 2012 579, they asked fleet owners and drivers what they needed and wanted. Their response was comfortable, light and spacious. By using a flexible test cab which enabled them to adjust the height, length and width and conducting interviews with drivers, they optimized the cab design for maximum productivity and comfort. They took that feedback and designed a spacious, wide cab made of aluminum for providing the lightweight benefits of owning a Peterbilt. The transition to sleeper is effortless with a sizable and open space. The detachable sleeper design adds the longevity and versatility of a 2nd life for highest resale value.

By designing the 2012 Peterbilt 579’s cab around the driver, the company has created an environment which drivers want to be in. Beneath the dash, you will find abundance of legroom and a completely adjustable steering wheel. For visibility, the low dash brow doesn’t sacrifice line of sight. All this comes together in an ergonomic and spacious cab interior engineered with everything within reach and the driver in mind. The multifunction steering column gets convenient access to audio and cruise control controls. Buttons are backlit for improved nighttime visibility, while the driver display package features easy to read, large and operation critical gauges clustered in sweet spot. A pull-out tray offers a passenger side work surface.

Offering the comforts of home, the voluptuous 2012 Peterbilt 579 sleeper is unmistakably Peterbilt. Complete with functional business area, it doubles as a convenient and comfortable office. Features include a climate control system for excellent cooling, air circulation and heating, industry’s widest use of LED lighting and new sound abatement technology which minimizes outside noise. The new flat panel television mount accommodates flat-screen televisions on a convenient swivel. Plenty of overhead storage – spaces contribute to more flexible organization and are thoughtfully designed.

The 2012 Peterbilt 579 comes with a generously sized sleeper, which fuses productivity with comfort in an ergonomic business area. The bunk holds an 82-inch mattress, the largest in the industry, and offers the amenities of home which Peterbilt is known for. The groundbreaking television mount accommodates flat-screen TVs on a convenient swivel.

Reliable & Rugged

Like all Peterbilt trucks, the 2012 579 is built to last. The new cab is durable and solid, with the highest quality finish and fit. Electrical wiring carriages reduce wear and tear and support wiring, adding to overall durability. The company used an in-mold process for embedding color directly onto the dash for long lasting finish which virtually eliminates scratching, peeling and fading. They tested the components at PACCAR Technical Center, replicating millions of miles of travel to ensure longevity and sturdiness. The resilient and robust design attributes help ensure the highest resale value and to maintain the low cost of ownership. All of this contributes to the quality which makes Peterbilt trucks the longest lasting vehicles on the road.

The PACCAR by Eaton UltraShift PLUS automated transmission provides true product integration with proprietary calibrations which match shift parameters accurately to PACCAR MX powerplant. This flawless communication between transmission and engine makes it less fatiguing and easier for drivers to keep the truck operating at peak efficiency, maximizing fuel economy and performance. Motivation for the 2012 Peterbilt 579 comes from a 12.9 liter MX Engine, which is designed and engineered to meet the demands of virtually any application. Offering maximum performance at low engine speeds, this engine is offered with a wide range of torque and horsepower options. Features such as standard air disc brakes provide the shortest stopping distances, optimize operator and vehicle efficiency and reduce maintenance. The company’s standard stability control system assists drivers by shifting power and braking to the axles that need it most. The reinforced hood and grille minimize damage from road hazards and options like SmartNav offer truck specific information about construction zones, weigh stations or low bridges.

To ensure the headlamps on 2012 Peterbilt 579 were the brightest and the best, the engineers of the company traveled to 10 nations and logged countless hours of testing, enhancing and research. The results are headlights and foglights which have the best coverage and down road visibility in the industry. Engineered for exceptional overall road coverage and a consistent beam distribution, its headlamps deliver less eye fatigue and a homogenous pattern. The large, one-piece windshield aids visibility, while the standard air disc brakes drastically reduce stopping distances.

Introduction

The Freightliner Cascadia began with an open mind and a clean sheet of paper. The company spent bags of money for benchmarking the competition by conducting and tearing extensive analysis on their trucks and their rivals’ trucks. The findings yielded weaknesses and strengths, and identified best practices, which can be applied to Cascadia. Scores of drivers and customers all through North America participated in its development, providing their real-world knowledge and distinctive insights to the process. Then engineers with years of experience, aided by state-of-the-art simulation and design tools, refined the Cascadia till they got it just right. The result is an aggressively confident step in the direction you are already moving: forward.

The Freightliner Cascadia started life as one of the most thoroughly tested trucks company ever, ensuring its safety, productivity, lasting comfort and durability. Months in the company’s state-of-the-art, proprietary wind tunnel helped define an inspiring efficiency story. The full-scale, first of its kind plant helped validate and refine the superior aerodynamics of 2012 Freightliner Cascadia. Then thousands of miles logged beneath actual operating situations strengthened its bottom line, fuel squeezing advantages.

Major and cab components survived grueling performance tests simulating millions of miles under absolute worst situations you can throw at a truck. The 2012 Cascadia is tremendously strong and sophisticated. Actually, the cab design meets every European and United States crashworthiness standard. The aerodynamic exterior is designed and engineered for enhancing fuel economy and reducing drag. Extensive use of weight saving materials increases payload. Everything about the 2012 Freightliner Cascadia is engineered with total cost of ownership in mind and is designed for building businesses and maximizing bottom lines.

Performance

The 2012 Freightliner Cascadia is one of the most thoroughly refined and tested trucks ever designed by the company. From bumper to rear of cab, its windswept, graceful lines create lowest drag coefficient of any model yet. Add to that a fuel efficient powerplant, and you can count on lower operating costs, higher profits and maximized efficiency. The Detroit DD15 powertrain and Freightliner Cascadia were engineered to work together, reaching 90 percent peak torque in only 1.5 seconds. BlueTec SCR emissions technology standard with DD15, DD16 and DD13 powerplants, offers extended regeneration intervals for boosting engine longevity and greater fuel economy (up to 5 percent for the DD15 and DD13). With near-zero emissions, BlueTec SCR is the first and only technology, which is as good for the environment as it is for vehicle and business performance.

The 2012 Freightliner Cascadia is also offered with a new heavy duty natural gas Cummins ISX12 G engine that operates on either LNG (liquefied natural gas) or CNG (compressed natural gas), delivering impressive 400 horsepower with jaw-dropping 1,450 pound feet of torque, automatic or manual transmission and optional engine brake. Its radiator/fan is mounted to the powerplant generating less vibration that equates to greater reliability. This enhanced fan shroud packaging reduces stress to the radiator and enables superior air flow as it is no longer subject to frame vibration and twist. The 1625 square-inch, large radiator comes standard. For powerplants more than 500 horsepower, update to the 1750 square-inch radiator and get even more cooling power.

Every element of 2012 Freightliner Cascadia is developed and designed for optimizing reliability, durability and performance. The Cummins ISX15 EPA 2010 powerplant features a completely incorporated system with uncompromised performance and near-zero emissions. The optional Hendrickson AIRTEK front axle suspension, a combination of leaf and air springs allows drivers to cruise over the road without feeling harsh dips or bumps. The stout Hendrickson STEERTEK axle reduces costly tire wear and cuts vibration. On the other hand, the lube free front spring bushings need virtually no maintenance, saving money and time.

Reliability

With fewer components, made easier to service and reach throughout the entire truck, you will find a long list of thoughtful design details and reliable components, which keep the 2012 Freightliner Cascadia driving on. The dual functioning, state-of-the-art electrical system combines new diagnostic tools with the best of conventional systems. This evolutionary design enables any technician to access diagnostics, like transmission and engine ECUs (Electronic Control Units) with ease. It is an intelligent design which slashes repair and downtime costs.

The hood opens wide and effortlessly for fast engine access. The standard roped-in windshield can be quickly replaced. With 3-piece design of both the hood and bumper, road debris dings and dents are easily repaired. Since chassis side fairings have quick release hinges, are available in mold-in color and smaller sacrificial parts, fairing replacement and repair is easy and less expensive. If the HVAC is not working, drivers are not working comfortably. The condenser in a usual air conditioning system works under significant pressure, which can wear out compressors, seals and hoses. The HVAC system gets a big condenser for increasing the life of components and reducing system pressure. The robust ventilation system of Cascadia keeps both passengers and driver comfortable. Dashboards, door sills and other high wear areas feature molded-in color materials, so nothing wears off.

Style & Comfort

The 2012 Freightliner Cascadia has plenty of small, yet smart comforts such as larger doors drivers can fit through easily, easy-to-turn handles and knobs and even when bundled up for bad weather. It makes it easier for drivers to stay comfortable and alert on the road. Drivers come in all sizes and shapes. The Cascadia’s seats are two inches taller, longer and wider unlike most in the industry for a perfect fit. Optional features include a tilting and telescoping steering wheel and a seat heater, swivel and 3-way bolster.

The curved, stiff cab walls of 2012 Freightliner Cascadia reduce vibration noise, while the thick blanket of noise dampening insulation covers everything inside the cockpit. So, if you are asleep in the bunk or behind the wheel, the cab with a high level of insulation as standard is quiet for improved sleep, ultimately safer roads and reduced driver fatigue. Its voluptuous cabin provides a variety of rattle-free, durable cabinet, accessory, workstation options and shelving. There is room for a TV, along with waist level mounted refrigerator for straightforward access.

The Cascadia’s cab is genuinely spacious with 24-inch between seats so drivers can really stretch out. Drivers will appreciate these features, too: Rattle-free shelves that stay put; Fridge at waist level, not below the knees; Plush mattress, 40″ wide x 80″ long; Ample tie-downs and storage pockets and Tall mid-roof design with 78” at the bunk, available in 48″, 60″ and 72″ sleeper lengths.

The sleeper and cab are flooded with standard lamps for business, off-the-clock and safety time: General dome light, Individual driver and passenger seat lights, Dome lights on each side of the bed, Dome lights overhead between the cab and sleeper and Focused work and map light. The Cascadia comes packed with multiple DC outlets for powering driver communications: two optional outlets at the base of bunk and two in the center of dashboard.

The Mercedes Benz Actros is a heavy duty truck designed, developed and engineered in 1995 by Mercedes Benz. It’s normally used for heavy duty distribution haulage, construction haulage and long distance haulage and is offered in weights starting at 18 tonnes. It is propelled by either V8 or V6 cylinder diesel powerplant with intercooler and turbocharger. Daimler Trucks/Lorries introduced the Actros’ version II in 2002. The 2012 Mercedes Benz Actros is the latest addition to the Mercedes Benz Commercial Vehicle range puts everything which has gone before it in the shade. Its contemporary cab offers the driver maximum comfort whilst delivering exceptional fuel economy. The new Actros is more outstandingly capable and now easier and safer to drive unlike any other truck which is gone before. The model range offers a vehicle configuration for just about any application in long distance transport.

Anyone wanting to stay ahead needs vehicles that meet this standard in every respect. So as to be able to provide you a vehicle which is optimum for long distance transport today and in the future in every respect, considering the constantly increasing demands where economy, comfort, variety and driving dynamics are concerned, the company planned to completely rebuild and redevelop the 2012 Mercedes Benz Actros. The result is a truck which puts everything that has gone before it in the shade. With its new cabs it offers you maximum comfort. You will be more profitable than ever before when out on the road in it, thanks to many expertly coordinated services and fuel-saving technical innovations. It is easier and safer to drive and more outstandingly capable than any other truck that’s gone before. It provides a perfectly configured vehicle for just about every application in long-distance transport, thanks to the vast range of equipment, appointments and model variants. Climb in and experience the new dimension of long-distance transport.

For levels of economy that put everything which has gone before in the shade, the truck maker have equipped the new 2012 Actros with many consumption reducing innovations and particularly frugal engines: there is up to 7 percent less consumption in the case of Euro V. Besides Euro V and EEV, the new 2012 Mercedes Benz Actros is one of the first vehicles to become offered with powerplants that already meet the norms of Euro VI – with a consumption advantage of up to 4 percent over its Euro V previous model. Together with the pioneering technology on board the new Actros, services that are perfectly customized to your needs also help to keep overall costs particularly low: they range from the telematics based FleetBoard system and Service Contracts, via attractive leasing and finance solutions to driver training courses for a driving style that cuts consumption – all measures which result in fewer costs and increased profit.

For an incomparably good driving feel we have given the new 2012 Actros a new groundbreaking rear axle guide, a steering system with a precise response and a wider, tauter frame. The powerplants are characterized by their immediate response and are offered in four output segments to 375 kW (510 hp) from 310 kW (421 hp). In combination with the standard specification Mercedes PowerShift 3 automated transmission and extra driving programs they ensure economical driving enjoyment. Plus the new Actros puts many other benefits firmly on the road, such as freely selectable frame overhangs for better body-mounting ability and an extended range of wheelbases.

A tank volume of up to 1300 in the case of semitrailer tractors and flexible combination options where the individual tanks are concerned, increase suitability for various operating profiles further still. In short, with the new Actros you have at your disposal a vehicle which is perfectly tailored to your requirements for practically any application in long-distance transport. Discover all this on the following pages, or pay a visit to your local Mercedes Benz dealer.

A modern workplace, an attractive living area and at the same time room for restful sleep – the redesigned cabs for the new Actros meet this standard in every respect. This is especially true of the GigaSpace. It offers an exciting way of experiencing the new dimension in long distance transport, with its impressive headroom1) of 2.13 m, for instance, and the optimum ratio of stowage capacity and freedom of movement. The new Actros sets benchmarks where its width is concerned, too, because the variants with a width of 2300 mm are available with a level floor throughout as an option. And all variants offer generous headroom.

Better ergonomics with practical solutions was the remit when it came to creating the new workplace – and what sounds so simple and feels so good when out on the road is actually the result of a whole series of finely matched components – in both ergonomic and functional terms. These include the newly developed seats, the new cockpit projected towards the driver, the stowage compartments that are easy to reach from the driver’s seat and the new multifunction steering wheel. In short: everything is precisely tuned to workflows in long distance transport and can be operated intuitively. Crucial factors for the pleasant atmosphere in the new Actros are the homely interior design with its friendly color concept, the clear design idiom and the high-quality, perfectly processed and easy to clean materials, plus the clear separation of living area and workplace.

The well thought out living concept ensures maximum relaxation during breaks. Restful sleep comes courtesy of newly developed beds, whilst numerous practical details and optional interior designs increase wellbeing and add a very personal, individual touch to the new dimension when it comes to cab comfort.

With its graphics-capable 10.4 cm TFT color display and many new functions and readouts, the new instrument cluster – which also comes as standard – facilitates fast, comprehensive – not to mention extremely clear – display of all the readings. These include information from the FleetBoard EcoSupport1), from three trip computers or shift data for two drivers. The straightforward, intuitive menu navigation, non-reflective legibility and the simplification of the departure check routine are further characteristic elements of the new instrument cluster.

As an option an instrument cluster with a 12.7 cm TFT color display and a variant with a video function are available. The latter can also display the images from an additionally connectable reversing camera. They all have in common the fact that their fundamental functions can be controlled via the new multifunction steering wheel: telephone calls can be taken, for example, driver assistance systems activated and deactivated, and radio settings changed. This makes for considerably more safety and operating comfort, ensuring that work and comfort go hand in hand in the new Actros.

All the seats in the Actros have been completely redeveloped. As a result, the adjustment range both lengthwise and for height is larger, the controls are arranged intuitively and in such a way that they are easily legible, whilst the seat cushions define a new benchmark in long-distance transport, being 40 mm wider than those in the predecessor model. The standard suspension seat impresses with its good seating comfort and many setting options, and is available with covers made of flat-weave fabric or, as an option, in velour or man-made leather. All of our long-distance cabs feature the ex-factory comfort suspension seat with a velour seat cover. It also boasts integral belt-height adjustment, shoulder adjustment and a greater adjustment range for the seat cushion inclination – all of which were not present in the previous model. As an option it is available with covers made of high-quality leather.

Maximum seating comfort comes courtesy of the new climatised suspension seat, which diverts heat and moisture from the seat in a targeted manner, and whose covers are characterized by very good climatic properties. On request the comfort and climatised suspension seat are available with a back-massage function and a leather seat featuring sophisticated workmanship. But the new Actros also shows what makes an optimum workplace with its stowage compartments, which provide precisely what drivers need. They are perfectly positioned within reach of the driver’s seat and represent the ideal solution for storing things needed during the journey. There is a wide choice of radios. All the radios have a USB and Aux-in interface for connecting other devices. The standard unit includes CD and Bluetooth connectivity. There is an option which includes navigation and an excellent sound system with eight loudspeakers including a subwoofer 1) which meets the most discerning requirements.

Freedom of movement aplenty, lots of stowage space, maximum functionality and a pleasant atmosphere throughout – where living comfort is concerned, too, the new cabs for the Actros leave virtually nothing to be desired. In short: during breaks the new Actros offers drivers far more headroom than is usual and a huge amount of legroom when they are sitting down. Thanks to the folding table on the underside of the bed with an integral cutlery compartment and an optional refrigerator, drivers will be less dependent on service stations. A few simple steps are all it takes to convert the area from a living room to a bedroom. The standard-fit comfort bed on the bottom can be folded against the rear panel of the cab.

The comfort mattress – which also comes as standard – is made of cold foam with 7 zones, so drivers can look forward to an excellent night’s sleep. The multi-zone PremiumComfort cold-foam mattress is available as an option. An optional 600 mm-wide upper bed can be folded up by 90° in the GigaSpace for optimum freedom of movement. With many individual equipment items that are available on request the new Actros not only offers optimum working and living comfort – it also ensures that the needs of the driver and any co-drivers are taken care of.

The new Actros stands for a new dimension of living comfort – because the drivers’ best interests lay at the heart of the development process for the new cabs: it wasn’t only more room and more stowage space that were the focus of attention – it was all about the effective, functional interplay of both. Then it was necessary to select colors and materials which underline this philosophy to optimum effect – both to the touch and visually. By way of example, the light color scheme makes for a totally new, pleasant sense of voluptuousness, whilst at the same time emphasizing the distinct separation of the workplace and living area. And to ensure that everything stays looking this good for a long time, only high-quality materials which are particularly easy to clean have been used. The optionally available Home-Line and Style-Line interior designs highlight the spacious ambience and increase the individual feeling of wellbeing with lots of details inside and outside the cab.

The new Actros brings to the road many innovative solutions which cut consumption and CO2 emissions considerably – the basis being BlueEfficiency Power from Mercedes-Benz Trucks. The brand stands for technologies such as BlueTec that reduce CO2 emissions and fuel consumption, for consumption optimized measures on the new Actros itself and for services that help to lower diesel consumption further still. In short: save fuel. Help to reduce impact on the environment.

With the 2012 Mercedes Benz Actros you have at your disposal a long distance vehicle which is even more economical when out and about than all the trucks we have ever built. In other words: thanks to a large number of product innovations the operating life and reliability of many components have been increased, the maintenance and repair costs cut and the consumption as a whole considerably reduced. In concrete terms this means that the new Actros is the technical and economical basis for a unique, particularly profitable global solution comprising a vehicle and services which are optimally tailored to it and which work together in perfect harmony, like the pistons of an engine – and thus play their part in creating a new dimension of economy.

Introduction

The Volvo VN 780 has always had a dual agenda to champion the safety and comfort of the driver and provide engineering which takes aerodynamic efficiency and performance to new heights. The raised roof of 2012 Volvo VN 780 is tall enough for a person 6’10″ to stand with room to spare with an efficient 77-inch sleeper. Its agile handling will get you from loading dock to loading dock with ease with fewer maintenance and fuel stops along the way. Everything from the windshield and sloping hood to the recessed door handles, wedge shaped headlights and rolled under bumper is streamlined and sculpted for the lowest possible drag coefficient. With shorter Volvo wheelbase, the gap between trailer and cab can be minimized for less air turbulence, needing less engine power to push through the air.

The 2012 Volvo VN 780 is a functional equivalent of an office, bedroom, dining room, den and kitchen. The workstation doubles as office desk and dining table, and bench seats quickly convert to a full length lower bunk. The upper bunk folds out from the back of the cab, while the foldaway ladder enables for easy access. Stacking cabinets can be tailor configured to accommodate your refrigerator, TV/DVD and microwave and to suit your storage needs. You can even specify a built-in sink with running water. The all-new 2012 VN 780 gets a voluptuous interior, a comfortable ride and was engineered for driver convenience. Its 77 inch sleeper comes with amenities which will put your drivers at ease. The cockpit features sound dampening materials for providing you one of the quietest rides on the road.

The 2012 Volvo VN 780 features smooth lines and elegant curves and would make a comfortable, efficient and stylish addition to any fleet. It will change your impression of how a long-haul truck should ride, handle and look. You will find room for every amenity for making you feel at home. With its fully insulated cab, the cabin is as quiet as many passenger vehicles even at high speeds. Behind its comfortable interior and sleek curves is a truck which means business. Not only will its agile handling get you from loading dock to loading dock with ease, it will do so with fewer fuel stops along the way.

The Toyota Hilux pickup truck has become synonymous with trips through extreme environments. The folks at Extreme World Races, for instance, recently trusted 3 Hilux pickup trucks for a 5900-mile trip through Antarctica, the longest in polar history. Motivation for all trucks came from a D-4D 3.0 liter diesel engine of Toyota, a workhorse mill familiar to markets outside of United States. So as to handle extremely cold climates, these trucks ran on jet fuel. Jet Fuel Powered Toyota Hilux Traverses Antarctica imageIceland-based Arctic Trucks performed customizations to Hilux trucks, 2 of which were 6×6 ones.

Toyota fitted the pickup trucks with large tires which had a footprint seventeen times larger unlike standard tires. The drivetrain and suspension were reinforced and each model was equipped with a crane used for loading barrels of fuel and heavy equipment. The expedition team used only Toyota trucks for setting up a weather station and fuel depot used by competitors and scientists participating in the ski race. The Toyota Hilux has been used on a number of trips on both magnetic poles. Probably its most popular appearance was on Arctic special episode of “Top Gear” in which the presenters of the show were the first to reach magnetic North Pole in a motor vehicle.

According to the Detroit News, Mr. Mark Reuss, President at General Motors North America stated that the midsize pickup truck headed for United States market within 2013 and a half might not carry on Colorado name America. The new international Colorado truck introduced last year at 2011 Bangkok Auto Show, destined mainly for Middle Eastern, Asian and other international markets. It carried Colorado name when it was introduced, and the original expectation was that it would carry on the name when it made its way to America. Concerning the lackluster sales of present model, it is possible that a heritage name might be revived for the new midsize pickup truck. Few possibilities are revival of S-10 label, and you will find multitude of other possibilities from the company’s past such as Cameo, Cheyenne and Apache.

2012 Freightliner Argosy provides a choice of 2 leading engine manufacturing companies: Detroit Diesel and Cummins, along with host of standard features which are optional on other brands. As a subsidiary of Daimler AG, the company has unlimited access to the most sophisticated technologies of the world that have helped create one of the most state-of-the-art transport solutions available.

Revolutionary Comfort

For the first time, the additional cab width really does provide the driver more space. The cabin inside is airy and open, with standup headroom in raised roof model and considerably more space unlike expected in mid roof trucks. In the 2012 Freightliner Argosy, side spaces which in conventional models had to be reserved for movement in the cab now can be used for modular cabinetry, a huge range of amenities which make the driver feel at home in his second home and a pull workstation.

Revolutionary Design

In the great tradition of Davy Crockett, Buffalo Bill, the Grand Canyon, Chief Sitting Bull, the Empire State Building, Mt. Rushmore, Levi’s Jeans, Route 66, the Dallas Cowboys, Babe Ruth, Mohammed Ali, Apple Pie and Bruce Springsteen comes 2012 Freightliner Argosy, a true American legend which will change the way you think about trucks and trucking for ever.

Revolutionary Protection

2012 Argosy is an industry benchmark in accident driver safety and prevention; it complies with strict European ECE R 29 safety norm that enhances the protection of everyone else on the road as well as drivers.

Revolutionary Space

With increased maneuverability, excellent forward visibility and its low profile, the 2012 Freightliner Argosy range gets a roomy cockpit with virtually easy entry / exit grab handles, a driver friendly, ergonomically placed control panel and dash and no engine tunnel. At last, you will find a truck, which provides drivers the best view of obstacles ahead without putting obstacles in their path.

Revolutionary Strength

At Freightliner, you will have a choice of three different powerplants from 3 three leading engine manufacturing companies in the world. At last you will find an engine, which will suit your needs perfectly. This is once again proof of the company’s commitment to world class technology, unmatched flexibility and innovation, which is why Freightliner is the leading long haul choice of South Africa.

Revolutionary Technology

The smartest and latest advance in shift-by-wire technology known as SmartShift offers a convenient interface with shift-by-wire transmissions including the Eaton Autoshift and provides all the following advantages: more in-cab space due to seat mounted or floor mounted shift control is eliminated; no clutching required except for stopping and starting; superior fuel economy because shifting happens at most effective torque and engine speed; less driver fatigue because clutching is greatly reduced; superior driver control as hands remain on wheel during shifting and automatic shifting feature can be overridden by driver.

Kenworth launched its heavy-duty truck, the T680 at 2012 Mid America Trucking Show in Louisville. With fuel prices surpassing $5 a gallon or approaching in some parts of the nation, trying to get as many miles as possible out of every gallon is on everyone’s minds, particularly truckers. So with new emphasis on efficiency in mind, the company launched the T680 heavy duty truck, which is offered in a day or sleeper cab.

The Kenworth T680 is one of the most aerodynamic trucks in the company’s history. Allowing its aerodynamics include optimized bumper and hood, a sculpted full-height roof, chassis fairing extenders, flush mounted lighting and full-height side extenders. Together, these improvements add up to 10% enhancement in aerodynamics. Also contributing to efficiency includes a three-piece hood and lightweight aluminum doors constructed from SMC (sheet molding compound), a durable lightweight composite, which provides you with a smooth surface facilitating high paint quality.
